The rapid plant movement

The rapid plant movement encompasses movement in plant structures occurring in a very short period of time, typically one second. For example, Dionaea muscipula (Venus flytrap) closes its trap in about 100 milliseconds . 1 The flowers of Cornus canadensis open their petals and release the pollen in less than 0.5 milliseconds. The record is white mulberry ( Morus alba ) moving the petals at a speed of 25 microseconds, speed that exceeds half the speed of sound - almost theoretical physical limit movements of plants. 2
These rapid movements differ from the more common, but much slower "growth movements" in plants, called tropisms .
The last work of Charles Darwin before his death was The Power of Movement in Plants (The power of movement in plants), published in 1882.

Vesicular Aldrovanda is an aquatic plant carnivorous , living in mainly acid water ponds. Has approximately 15 to 20 cm in length. Its name vesicular refers to a bladders that allow kept in suspension near the surface. The trap is formed by two lobes bordered by numerous small teeth joined by a "hinge" hairy detectors.
It is a herbaceous perennial fresh water does not have roots, only the embryo has a rudimentary root. Capture their medals with leaves that have a folding event similar to a smaller version of the Venus flytrap. Capture small animals in the water, preferably water fleas and other small animals as young larvae of mosquitoes.

Dionaea is a genus monotypic of carnivorous plant in the family Droseraceae.
The only species Dionaea muscipula , common name Venus flytrap or Venus flytrap , catch live prey - mostly insects and arachnids .
Its trapping structure is formed by the terminal portion of each leaf divided into two lobes, which contains three tiny hairs on the surface sensitive internal. When potential prey makes contact with one of these hairs the trap is active, but only closes if contact is repeated in a different hair in the next twenty seconds. This dual requirement of contact is a security system to prevent energy waste in case the trapped object has no nutritional value.

The flycatcher is a small plant whose structure consists of a rosette of 4 to 7 leaves arising from a short underground stem bulbous shape. Each stem reaches a maximum height of 3 to 10 cm, depending on the season, 2 longer leaves with robust traps are usually formed after flowering. Plants that have more than 7 leaves are colonies formed by rosettes that have divided underground.
