Your eyes are comfortable with the view through the windshield as long as it is daylight outside. From cave man days that is the way life has been and we are used to daylight for proper vision. There is a scientific reason for this. Daylight corresponds to 4300k white light at which the eyes focus the best. It stands to reason, therefore, that any light that gives you around 4300k will be good for safety. This is where the whole problem with the standard halogen light generates. The standard halogen bulb gives you 2300k. It is, therefore, not able to create daylight condition that is so vital for your vision and, therefore road safety. The High Intensity Discharge (HID) kit, on the other hand, gives you a light that is between white and blue white light. This is in the range of 4300k and 6000k. There is, therefore, no doubt that the HID conversion kit is necessary to create a safe condition of driving for you irrespective of whether you are driving a motor car or a motor cycle.
There are several other reasons for the superiority of the HID conversion kit. Though the standard halogen bulb is way ahead of the incandescent bulbs, it still has another major drawback besides the fact that it does not simulate daylight. The halogen bulb in spite of its modernity still has filaments. Even though the advanced filaments do not get oxidized since there is a protective halogen environment around them they are still brittle and the road vibrations are adequate to reduce their reliability and therefore their life. Therefore the HID kit will give you ten years of life on an average or 3000 hours of usage. The halogen bulbs can never come anywhere close to these figures. The HID kit will give you 300% more light compared to the halogen bulb and the spread in front of your vehicle will also be three times as much.
