
Love a runway fashion show? You're going to have at least 10 opportunities to catch one in the next few weeks in the Metro area as the fall schedule fills with benefits and shopping events. Some will feature local designers, while others will showcase independent retailers, shopping districts and malls.
Here's what's on the schedule:
Aug. 29: Fashion Night's Downtown Boulder features a 44-foot runway on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall. Fifty models will be wearing clothing and accessories from more than 20 downtown boutiques and galleries at 6 p.m. Among those participating are Art+Soul, Barbara & Co., Chelsea, Common Era, Jovie, Island Farm, Prana Weekends. In-store celebrations after the show will include music, trunk shows and more until 9 p.m.
Sept. 4: The Center for Innovation at Metropolitan State University hosts Own It, a free daylong party for the arts that will feature music, art and fashion. Outdoor fashion shows begin at 4 and will feature such local brands as Equillibrium by Deb Henriksen, Stephanie O by Stephanie Ohnmacht, Imminent Rise by Kristen Little-John, Denver Fashion Truck and Native Clutter. The emcee is Lisa Ramfjord Elstun of LRE Couture.
Sept. 5: Barrera International collection by designer Juan Jimenez . Show and pop-up shop, 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $100 for VIPs. Space Gallery, 765 Santa Fe. Dr.
Sept. 6: Fashion Group International presents its biennial Rising Star Awards featuring local designers and retailers at a party and fashion show beginning at 6 p.m. at the McNichols Building, 144 W. Colfax Ave. Ticket prices start at $75 for general admission and go up to $500 for a VIP table for four. (Student admission is $30). Purchase at denver.fgi.org or blacktie-colorado.com/calendar. Proceeds benefit Dress for Success Denver, FGI's scholarship fund and educational programs.
Sept. 7: Park Meadows hosts Fashion Fabulous, from 3-7 p.m. with such activities as a Beauty Bar with makeovers and in-store specials. Runway events in the Macy's Court include a Show Us Your Style Contest and looks from Peek, a designer store set to open in late September. Sept. 7: Quarterly Karma presents Fire in the Sky, a fashion and music show to benefit the victims of the Colorado wildfires with local and national designers, live music, dancing, a trunk show, art and a food truck courtyard, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $20 at the door; $15 in advance. Proceeds benefit Do Your Part Inc., a nonprofit group that supports victims of natural disasters.Cluster Studios, 2881 Steele St.
Sept. 8: During the 10th annual Festival Italiano at Belmar, a fashion show will be held at 12:15 at the Torino Stage near South Teller and West Alaska streets in Lakewood. Shops presenting fall looks will include The Fall Line, Wild at Heart, Remnant of La Jolla and Coldwater Creek.
Sept. 12: Celebrate Fashion takes over Fillmore Plaza in Cherry Creek North. The event starts with in-store events from 5-7 p.m. and then at 8 p.m., a runway show will feature children's clothing. A second show follows with 20 retailers of everything from men's and women's apparel to lingerie and furs. The event is a benefit for Denver Health and tickets start at $60. 200 Fillmore St.;
Sept. 13: Pret-a-Porter, a runway show and design competition sponsored by the The International Interior Design Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter will be held at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The theme for the eighth annual show is Art Deco and teams using a variety of architectural materias will create outfits. Tickets start at $20 for student members and go up to $60 for non-IIDA member premiere seats:pretaporter2013.
Sept. 20 : The Flight To Luxury Couture Fashion Show benefit for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver takes over the XJet and Signature hangars at Centennial airport beginning at 6 p.m. The show will feature looks from a selection of specialty stores including Andrisen Morton, Alicia the Boutique, Mariel, Cry Baby Ranch, Goldyn, Scruples, Oster Jewelers, Mark Lloyd Furs, and Swim 'n Sport. Tickets are $250 per person.
