The earliest human habitation in Tanzania can be dated back 1.8 million years ago. Fossils have been discovered in the Olduvai Gorge.

Present day Tanzania's culture is a mix of nearly 120 cultures.

Some cultures are listed below.

Masai: the Maasai is probably the most popular ethnic groups in East Africa. They are known for their soldiers and pastoral way of life, and cattle. Number of cattle to determine their social status. Gogo (or Wagogo): They are under the bow of the central region of Dodoma in Tanzania ethnic and linguistic groups. They have developed slowly due to lack of water. Nyamwezi (mean Moon People), Nyamwezi, now cultivators, some major retailers. 19th century European explorers as they are the most powerful group of interior.
