The law of gravity states that “things tend to fall downward”. This law of Sir Isaac Newton is known to everyone. The point is not about the definition of the above law or its various interpretations. The meaning is not what the Newton has said and which is linked with the behaviour of people in the corporate world.

We all know that things fall downward because of the gravitational force or attraction of the earth. The same gravitational force or law of gravity only influences the behaviour and leadership style of most people in the corporate across the globe. One needs to understand and appreciate the role of this universal law of gravity in human behaviour in general in order to maintain the tranquility and peace when there is turmoil in human relationship.

Whenever the boss gets angry, they easily throw their anger and weight only to the people who are below them. Reverse hierarchy of (boss to the subordinates) shifting the anger, blame and intolerance are very perfect and orderly in every corporate than the hierarchy system they follow.

Whether it is the top man or the Vice President, they easily find the people in the lower order to be as their ‘waste basket’ to throw their anger and frustrations. Generally, no one in the corporate show their anger on people who are seniors to them. If they ever attempt to do so, they may even be sacked from service for insubordination.

A subordinate questioning the boss is never tolerated in any corporate. Anger, frustrations, blame etc are always heavier than the appreciations or joy of anyone. According to the law of gravity, only the lighter materials can escape the gravity and all the heavier materials has to fall down.

When the heavier materials fall down, where else they can go and settle other than at the people at the lower levels. This is the reason why all the people in the corporate finds fault at people who are below their rank. Whereas, when the subject of appreciation comes, always they show high level of generosity in offering the same to their seniors or superiors. They do so with the hope that when the boss gets pleased, they get their due and undue reward.

But they forget dismally the fact that their bosses cannot appreciate them because they also can do the same only to their superiors. What the bosses can do to their subordinates is only the blame and criticism as reward to their appreciation. Although the bosses may not be doing it advertently, simply they are following only the law of gravity.

No one can escape from the law of gravity in the universe. What is true in the universe is true in corporate as well. If this universal truth is understood by people, they can handle situations and unpredictable behaviour and leadership styles of the bosses in the corporate wisely.

Do not ask the question as why despite I appreciate and applaud my boss he is still blaming and criticizing me.

The truth is that you cannot appreciate your subordinates and so is your boss; he cannot blame and criticize his boss.

While remembering the Sir Isaac Newton for his discovery of the ‘law of gravity’ also remembers the untold management message of the above law.
