At present, Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.8 is available for updating from Mac App Store. This newest version has been improved a lot more than its old version like FCP 6/7. Updates include:
1. Support for Sony XAVC codec up to 4K resolution
Option to display ProRes Log C files from ARRI ALEXA cameras with standard Rec. 709 color and contrast levels
Resolves an issue where some third-party effects generated green frames during render
Resolves performance issues that could occur with certain titles and effects
Time reversed clips render in the background
Ability to use key commands to adjust Clip Appearance settings in the timeline
Ability to view reel number metadata located in the time code track of video files
We notice that the FCP X version 10.0.8 supports XAVC formats produced by Sony HD Camcorders, which is really a huge advancement compared to the old versions FCP 6/7, both of which fail to support XAVC footages. But before updating, the users who run FCP 6/7 for a long time will have to face the problem of dealing with XAVC footages. For example, after they shooting home videos with Sony PMW-F55/F5 and would like to do post production, they cannot make it smoothly.
