How to Synchronize between Desktop PC and BlackBerry Smartphone?
BlackBerry Desktop Manager is CD and software program that came with your BlackBerry. It runs on your PC and allows you to do all kinds of stuff with your BlackBerry, like backup all your data, install new applications, etc.
You can use it to switch from a previous BlackBerry smartphone to a new BlackBerry smartphone. The data and settings from the previous BlackBerry smartphone, such as email messages, organizer data, and third-party applications that are compatible with the new BlackBerry smartphone, are imported to the new device. If there are any email accounts that are associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, these email settings are also imported to the new BlackBerry smartphone.

1. How to back up device data:
1) Connect your BlackBerry device to your computer.
2) On the "Backup and Restore" tab:
? To back up all your device data, click "Back up".
? To back up specific device data, click "Advanced". In the "Device Databases" section, click a database. Click the "Left Arrow" icon. On the File menu, click "Save As".
2. How to restore device data:
1) Connect your BlackBerry device to your computer.
2) On the "Backup and Restore" tab:
? To restore all the device data in a backup file, click Restore. Double-click a backup (.ipd) file.
? To restore specific device data from a backup file, click Advanced. On the File menu, click Open. Double-click a backup (.ipd) file. In the Desktop File Databases section, click a database. Click the "Right Arrow icon.

? Click "Device" then "Switch Device"
? Plug the original device into the computer's USB port and complete the Device Switch by clicking "Next"
Note: Check the "Device Data" box to ensure all of the data on the old BlackBerry smartphone is backed up and restored to the new BlackBerry smartphone.
4. How to move media files on the microSD card:
Option One: Directly remove the microSD card from the old BlackBerry smartphone and then insert it into the new BlackBerry smartphone.
Option Two: Transfer through computer.
Connect the previous BlackBerry smartphone to the computer
Enable USB Mass Storage on the BlackBerry smartphone when prompted
Copy all files to a folder on the computer
Disconnect the old BlackBerry smartphone from the computer and connect the new BlackBerry smartphone
Enable USB drive on the smartphone when prompted
Copy all files to the new BlackBerry smartphone
5. How to move any apps from the old BlackBerry smartphone to a new one:
Launch the BlackBerry App World storefront application on the new BlackBerry smartphone. If the BlackBerry App World icon is not visible on the Home screen or in the Downloads folder on the BlackBerry smartphone, the application may not be installed. Touch/click the "My World" icon. Log in or create a BlackBerry ID account
Then you can follow the prompts to migrate all previously purchased apps to the new BlackBerry smartphone.
Note: Not all applications will be compatible with the new BlackBerry smartphone.
BlackBerry Desktop Software will function when installed on Windows 8; however .NET Framework 3.5 must be installed and enabled prior to the installation.
