As we all know, the world environment is getting worse. The environment problems we face are serious. First, energy and other natural resources have become les. For example, many parts of world face severe water shortages and about 20% of the planet’s people lack access to safe drinking water. Second, many species are extremely becoming extinct. A quarter of the world’s mammal species are at serious risk of extinction and biological diversity is disappearing at an alarming rate. Third, the world’s pollution is more serious than at any time in history. Extreme weather conditions are becoming more serious. Despite some measures such as Earth Summit have been taken, we human beings, continue to plunder the global environment. However, how we can protect the environment. There are several points as follows.
Firstly, the government should take more measures to protect the environment. First of all, more environmental laws should be formulated by the government. It is known to us all that the government has the obligation to respond to and to protect the right of people endowed by law. If people are against the environmental law, different degree of punishments should be given. Besides, the government itself should spend more energy on the environmental protection rather than economic development. It’s unreasonable to have the concept of “pollute first harness later”, which is the traditional economic model of developed countries. Hence, instead of harness the environment, the government should focus on protecting. What’s more, the government should pay more attention on the environmental education of the children. The children are always the noodle of our society. The acts of children have great influence on the other people. Therefore, it is significant to focus on the environmental education of the children.
Secondly, everyone of the world should do the best to protect the environment. Environmental protection needs public participation. First, everyone should aware the importance of environmental protection. By using our natural resources wisely, the environment can be protected. Environment can be protected. Second, the force of public opinion can put pressure on those who destroy the environment. Last but not least, people should build more non-governmental organization to protect the environment. The majority of the NGOS are positive and healthy, especially the youth groups who are volunteering for environmental protection. They love their country and are eager to make contributions to the society. Thus, it can protect the environment.
Above all, it’s important to protect the environment. We should take measures both from the government and from the public. At the same time, we should strengthen the communication between the government and the public. As time is running out, it is essential to protect the environment!
