The ball mill grind materials at the driving of revolution and autobiography and relying on the friction and collision of the grinding balls in grinding bowl .The higher the revolving speed, the greater the function of the friction and the collision.So when the ball mill works at the formal condition, the discharging grain is basically proportional with the revolving speed of the ball mill.
In different mineral industries, the effects of a ball mill's revolving speed is also different. For example, in coal mine industry, the revolving speed of a ball mill directly impact the movement of the steel ball and cinder-blocks and the grinding process of the coal.If the cylinder body rotate at a very low speed, the coal and the steel ball can't be brought up,they will stay only in the bottom ,which leads a small rolling mill coal output.On the oppposite, if it rotate at a very high speed, the centrifugal force of the coal and the steel ball is greater than their gravity,the steel ball and coal will rotate together with the cylinder body without the function of grinding the coal.
The revolving speed of the ball mill can make the cylinder body steel ball up to a maximum height, at which time the ball mill has the most impact and achieves a best effect of grinding coal.
However, in the actual work, the revolving speed of the ball mill is limited by the ratio of transmission device and other external conditions,which make it can't reach the most suitable height, so it is generally easier to close to.
After the explanations above, we know the importance of the revolving speed of a ball mill in the daily work of a ball mill,so in order to improve the grinding efficiency, usually set the revolving speed of the ball mill at a maximum speed.The results carried out by both methods showed good agreement. It has been commonly accepted that the critical rotation speed is a function of a ball radius and a jar diameter. The results of the present work, however, show that the critical rotation speed significantly depends on ball-containing fraction in jars, and approaches a value asymptotically as the ball-containing fraction approaches to one.
