Before this software was made available, manual methods were used to assign every employee their working hours, off days and breaks. There are different kinds of this software produced by different companies. The most popular however is the web based for which only an internet connection is needed.
One benefit to employees is that they do not physically have to visit the office or call in to know their work hour. They can simply log onto the system and get this information which the system automatically updates. It also keeps automatic updates of employees off days and vacations.
It also simplifies work for supervisors and managers. Employees can make requests are regards the shifts that they are available for or prefer and they can also give notice if they will be unable to report for a shift they have been allocated.
The software significantly reduces the cost of administration. It is not necessary to hire staff to keep track of the time employee’s report, the breaks they take and when they leave. Automated clock in and clock machines can be installed that are connected to the software so that these times are automatically updated into the system.
The system makes workers supervision and record keeping much easier for large organizations. They would otherwise be a lot of confusion and undone tasks if so many employees from several departments relied on manual verification of the time they were to report and leave and when they actually reported and checked out.
