The iMod platform finds a wide range of applications in distributed system as a telemetric module as well as a communication and control module. The iMod device has built-in support of communication protocols such as Modbus, Mbus, and TCP/IP.
First, the path of access to the data base must be defined, which is linked to giving its directory. The SQLite datbase on the iMod device uses a universal connection interface with the PDO database, that is why there is a reference to this interface in the definition of the database. The variable $db is assigned to the modbus.db database. The next step is to refer to the database and to read the appropriate values for selected parameters from it - in this case, for parameters for which the Description in the MainConfig.xml file has been defined as USER_LED and DI1.
By using these protocols, the module has the capability of collecting and processing information from various types of sensors and measuring instruments. This data can be accessed and controlled in different ways, but one of the most universal ways is data access from anywhere using a WWW browser.
The iMod telemetric module uses a built-in www server - Apache - with PHP and database support (SQLite and PSQL) for the purpose of giving access to data. The universality of this method of data access results from the fact that the WWW interface made by the user works with every browser and enables constant browsing of information registered by the iMod device. In order to make a simple WWW interface, one need only know the basics of the HTML and PHP languages and must know how to use databases.
iMod configuration
In order to read data using an internet browser, the iMod must first be configured correctly. For this purpose, the example1-hardware_access.xml file, found in the /mnt/mtd/iMod/config/example directory, will be used. This configuration is also the default configuration on the iMod and ensures access to the hardware resources of the device. Registration of data to the database in the iMod is active to the SQLite base by default. It is, however, possible to send a value straight from the iMod engine to a local or external PostgreSQL base.
