It all started when Félicien Chopard, an experienced farmer started encouraging his three sons to step into the watch making business. Louis-Ulysse his second son thus became a renowned Swiss watchmaker and founder of Chopard. He was against mass production so each watch was a fine blend of blend of artistry and functionality which obviously got noticed and won accolades for their amazing attention to detail. Winning a large number of happy customers Chopard moved to Geneva in 1937.

They set themselves as a high precision watch manufacturer specializing in pocket-watches and chronometers. In 1963 however Paul-André Chopard, the grandson of the founder, had to sell the company to Karl Scheufele III a young and promising goldsmith and watchmaker, as his sons decided to pursue other careers.

Karl Scheufele III quickly took over and started modernizing the company and also initiated the jewelry range into the Chopard watch production. In 1974 they started manufacturing ladies jewelry timepieces and embarked on a new horizon. New boutiques were established in other parts of the world attempting to open the doors of Chopard to all.

In 1985 Caroline Scheufele was appointed as vice president who was passionate about drawing jewelry models, she casually created a sketch of a clown with tummy full of diamonds and colored stones which gave birth to the concept of happy diamonds and brought the brand to spotlight.

Their present day jewelry collections are diversified as temptations, classics, the animal world, solitaires and the red carpet collections. There are many popular pieces like the 'happy diamond collection' with free floating diamonds.  Chopard has many diversified collections; Happy Diamonds, Imperiale, Chopardissimo and La Strada with each having their own distinct features and looks setting themselves apart from the other, and each have a story to tell.

Celebrities have fancied upon wearing Chopard and created ripples with time. A latest achievement of the brand is showcasing it through the upcoming movie 'Diana' starring Naomi Watt. It has already successfully involved itself with a number of other feature films too like "Midnight in Paris," "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "Nine." But this project was particularly challenging, considering the fact that late Princess of Wales' had extraordinary taste for fine jewelry and capturing that would not have been easy.
