Az iMod-on belüli kommunikáció három csatorna filozófiájára épült. Ez egyszerű, érthető adatátvitelt teszi lehetővé. Forráscsatorna, megjelöli, honnan történik az információk felvétele. Ebben a definícióban az interfészt és annak paramétereit kell megadni. Adatmegosztó csatorna. Itt megfogalmazzuk, melyik interfészen és milyen paramétereken lesznek elérhetők az információk a forrásból. Üzenet csatorna, további akciók végrehajtását teszi lehetővé az értékek leolvasására.
Objektumok megfogalmazása
A csatornákon kívül, amelyek az iMod berendezés kommunikációjának a felépítését fogalmazzák meg, további konfigurációs elemek a paraméterek, események és az értesítések.
Értesítések
Üzenetminták, amelyek elküldésre kerülnek a korábban meghatározott átvevőkhöz. Az üzenetekbe MAKR is felkerülhet, melyek kitöltése dinamikusan folyik az értesítések elküldésekor. Pl. REG_VALUE[THIS] beírja annak a paraméternek az értékét, amelynek leolvasása az elküldést eredményezte.
Paraméterek megfogalmazása
A források és a hozzáférési módok megfogalmazása után, az üzenet csatornákkal együtt, neki kell látni a paraméterek megfogalmazásához.
Paraméterek
Minden paraméter alfanumerikus egyedi ID-vel rendelkezik, amely alatt az iMod belső paraméter táblázatot hoz létre. Az ID-n kívül meg kell adni, melyik megfogalmazott source-channel-ről fogja felvenni a paraméter az értékét. Megadható továbbá a megfelelő acces-channelt, ha meg szeretnénk osztani ezeket az értékeket.
Esemény
Az adatok regisztrálása és megosztása mellett minden paramétert eseménnyel bővíthetünk. Az eseményhez hozzárendeljük az üzenet csatornáit és a korábban megfogalmazott üzenet mintákat.
Protokollok és SDK
Az előző fejezetben bemutatott konfigurációs blokkok alapján pl. olyan egyéni Modbus táblát építhetünk, amely egy sor kiépített funkciót teljesít. A következőkben az ezzel kapcsolatos funkciókat mutatjuk be.
Modbus proxy
Modbus Proxy a Gateway/Router modbus típusú termék jellemzője, amely az átirányított modbus paraméterek pufferelésére alapszik. Ennek köszönhetően ezek a paraméterek szinte azonnal elérhetők a master típusú berendezések számára. Ezek a berendezés cache-ban vannak. Ennek a funkciónak akkor van nagy jelentősége, amikor lassan válaszoló berendezésből olvassuk le a paramétereket.
Modbus gateway
A Modbus Gateway típusú berendezés továbbítja a modbus soros kommunikációt az Ethernet hálózatra. Abban a szituációban alkalmazzák, amikor pl. modbus slave típusú berendezéseink vannak soros RS-485/RS-232 interfésszel, illetve LAN vagy Internet hálózatra csatlakoztatott modbus master (pl. Scada ügyfél). A lenti ábra egy ilyen szituációt mutat be.
Modbus Router
A Modbus Router típusú berendezés a modbus kommunikációját az Ethernet hálózatról a soros interfészekre továbbítja. Abban a szituációban alkalmazzák, amikor pl. Ethernet hálózatban ipari automatizálás működő modbus slave típusú berendezéseink vannak, míg a modbus master (pl. kezelőpanel) RS-485 vagy RS-232 interfésszel rendelkezik.
