The child tax, adoption and childcare credit are usually the ones that are made available to families. Though these credits will be given to a lot, you still have to qualify for the rules and it is advised to hire a tax professional to help you determine which ones you need.
5. Plan for your child’s education early- Your child’s education will play a big role in your expense list. Talk to your partner and decide whether you plan to put your child in a private school and if you can afford it in the long run. You should also think long term such as your child’s college costs. Try to make an estimate of what you will spend on your child’s school costs and how much money you can save.
6. Weigh your needs- If you don’t think you can allocate for both your retirement savings and save money for your child’s college fund, it would be best to choose your retirement. There will always be loans and scholarships to help your child get through college. You can also consider opening up an education fund and ask for help from family members.
7. Pay your debts regularly- Your credit will be of big help once you have your own family and if you can maintain it you will benefit from it more. Do a credit check regularly and make sure you pay down your debt/s. Paying down the minimum is way better than missing out on bills as it will damage your credit history and credit score.
